Fernando Torres has grabbed his 100th goal for his club Atletico Madrid.

He reached the milestones in a special way, grabbing the brace in the 2-0 win over Leganes in the La Liga. He got the rebound after Antoine Griezmann missed a penalty and added the other after the break.

Sixteen years after his debut at the Calderon for the Spanish side, Torres reached the impressive mark. The Spaniard scored 93 of the goals in the Satander while the rest were in the Segunda.
Torres was the star man and skipper during his years at the club but he left to get Premier League experience then he returned. He moved to Liverpool where he combined well with Steven Gerrard and the host of other players at Anfield. Subsequently, he played for rivals Chelsea and AC Milan before he returned to his boyhood club.

The 32-year old is out of contract at the end of the season but he is winding down his career in a memorable way.

“The most important part of the season is coming up now, when everything is decided. I go into each game as if it is my last, I feel I must enjoy every minute now,” the player said.

Atletico are set to face Barcelona in an away encounter in an underwhelming season. However, Torres says that such tough situations bring out the best in them.

“The team wanted to win today, we went out to press up high, leave everything on the pitch, At 2-0 up we had more quiet moments as we have a game in Tuesday. We must forget this game quickly and move on,” Torres said.

He admitted that the game would be difficult but added that the team liked such games, particularly “when people do not give [them] a chance.”
